Kavrila

After almost three years of silence, the kings of not giving a shit have returned!
They bring with them the cold rage of the northern sea and the relentlessly sharp teeth of Cerberus. It feels as if they’ve sworn an oath of Omertà to seal the core of the circle. Their comeback leaves no doubt—they remain unapologetically uncompromising. With “Heretics I”, the band drags listeners into the coldest, darkest torture chambers, where resentment, resolve, and moments of sheer power clash with bittersweet melancholy.
Seeking a creative break from the production process of their anticipated third full-length album, Miltos proposed an ambitious idea: record a new EP in a completely unorthodox way. Armed with a Tascam portable 4-track tape recorder from the ‘90s, borrowed from a friend, the plan was simple yet audacious: create four tracks, recorded analog, directly onto cassette. Starting with drums and bass, followed by vocals and guitar, no songs were pre-written—everything was born during the recording process.
Ralph, who joined the band after the release of “Mor”, makes his recording debut on “Heretics I”. He crafted basslines on the spot during jam sessions with Miltos, transitioning seamlessly into live recording. The result: raw, unfiltered takes, captured in a single pass without edits or retakes. Alex brought a similar energy to the vocals, recording all parts in one take upon hearing the tracks for the very first time. The spontaneity paid off—17 minutes of unadulterated anger later, the definitive version of “Heretics I” was in hand.
Andreas' contribution added a unique twist. Living in Greece at the time, he recorded his guitar parts digitally and sent them to Hamburg. This mix of analog and digital approaches, coupled with the EP's raw ethos, showcases Kavrila’s creativity and adaptability.
Mixed and mastered by Hauke Albrecht at Studio Altona in Hamburg, Germany — known for his work with Turbostaat and Mountain Witch — "Heretics I” epitomizes Kavrila's uncompromising spirit and experimental essence.
