SOROR DOLOROSA - Mond [2CD ARTBOOK]
2CD hardcover artbook (18x18 cm, 36 pages) with 6-track bonus CD “Aurora” and enhanced artwork (700 copies available). Creatures of the night probably miss the 80s of the last century badly. Post-punk and New Wave reached glorious heights and their epic explorations of mixing hard guitars and driving electronics dominated alternative dance floors. Names like SISTERS OF MERCY, FIELDS OF THE NEPHILIM, DEPECHE MODE, JOY DIVISION, THE HUMAN LEAGUE, ULTRAVOX and others still have a magic ring to them. Luckily, all that subtle eroticism, the electric excitement, and dark musical pleasure is not gone for good: SOROR DOLOROSA come flying to the rescue on black wings. Their fourth album "Mond" (German for "Moon") has musical fangs that draw delicious sonic blood on the first listening experience. The classic dark post-punk and wave elements are all there, and so is the overwhelming enticement to let your feet move in an ecstatic dance under the eponymous moon. Yet SOROR DOLOROSA are no peddlers of stale snake oil nostalgia. The French band has updated the classic feel with a massive sound fitting for the new millennium. Mix and mastering of "Mond" have been successfully entrusted to PERTURBATOR mastermind James Kent, who has polished this epic album with a lush vibrant power and ethereal coldness. Lyrically, SOROR DOLOROSA remain firmly on the path they have wandered from the start, when the band was originally founded in Toulouse in 2001 and finally emerged with the "Severance" EP in 2009. Their inspiration has again come in part from poets and writers such as William Blake and Edgar Alan Poe. The romantic and cathartic emotional landscapes are still at the heart of the band. With "Mond", SOROR DOLOROSA are reaching far out of the solar sphere and into deep outer space where the musical past and future become entwined to create an exciting new chapter in the band's evolution. Tracklist: 1. Tear It Up 2. You're Giving Me 3. Red Love 4. Souls Collide 5. Sugar Moon 6. Broken Love 7. Obsidian Museum 8. Hurlevent 9. But Today Bonus CD (Artbook only): 1. TRELLDOM - ...By The Shadows... [HARDCOVER BOOK CD]
CD hardcover book (18x18 cm, 36 pages) with extended artwork. TRELLDOM are the brainchild of Kristian Eivind Espedal, who is better known under his artist's name Gaahl. The Norwegian became one of the leading figures of the Nordic black metal scene after joining the notorious Bergen outfit GORGOROTH in 1998. For many years, the vocalist was pigeonholed for his extreme vocals and attracted many, often dark rumours about his person. If any notion is true about Espedal, it is to always expect the unexpected. TRELLDOM have already written black metal history. The band founded by Gaahl in Sunnfjord, Vestland in 1992 released their debut album "Til evighet..." (1995) to great acclaim in underground black metal circles. Having changed the line-up to include guitarist Valgard and Stian "Sir" Kårstad on bass, TRELLDOM unleashed their sophomore full-length "Til et annet..." (1999) to already much attention of mainstream metal media. This album was produced by the legendary sound engineer Pytten at Grieghallen Studios in Bergen. Pytten also recorded the third milestone "Til minne..." (2007), which became highly regarded both by critics and fans. One of the key aspects of TRELLDOM's first trilogy has always been that in his own band Gaahl was free of the strict limitations under which GORGOROTH operated, and therefore able to explore his voice at will. With "...by the shadows..." the Norwegian artist breaks free from another mould. Returning after many years of dormancy, in which the musicians involved went on to work with several other projects, there is both continuity and change. The crucial collaboration with Stian Kårstad remains at the musical heart of the band. The by far the largest part of all songs on "...by the shadows..." has been created by Sir, who has also taken over all guitar duties. Yet Espedal has changed other aspects of TRELLDOM, which created fascinating effects. Now the renowned percussionist Kenneth Kapstad sits on the drum-stool,who was formerly of MOTORPSYCHO and is also driving the beats in SPIDERGAWD, MØSTER!, and THORNS. Kapstad also brought the internationally acclaimed jazz musician and saxophone player Kjetil Møster (MØSTER!, RÖYKSOPP, THE END) into the fold. The inclusion of Møster's unorthodox saxophone sounds can already be taken as an indication that TRELLDOM are no longer shackled by the narrowest definition of black metal. The music on "...by the shadows..." does remain dark and fierce. It is also clearly still growing out of its roots in the black past. Yet Espedal has willed his band into becoming a far more layered beast and set it free to roam in an avant-garde dimension – with the dissonant sound at times even turning towards the experimental. TRELLDOM have awakened from their slumber and "...by the shadows..." is a spirited manifesto for artistic freedom as well as a grand declaration of war against nostalgic stagnation. This album poses a challenge that states: love it or leave it! Tracklist: 1. the voice of what whispers 2. exit existence 3. return the distance 4. between the world 5. i drink out of my head 6. hiding invisble 7. by the shadow

ELEPHANT TREE - Theia (Anniversary Edition) [HARDCOVER BOOK CD]
CD hardcover book (18x18cm, 36-pages) incl. liner notes, lyrics and expanded artwork. ELEPHANT TREE present a remarkable Anniversary Edition of their acclaimed first album "Theia" (2015). While the music of this milestone remains untouched, its artwork has been given a refreshing inversion, and a wealth of rare photos, liner notes and lyrics have been added to provide a thorough look at the band's first decade since the original release. The seed for ELEPHANT TREE was planted in a rehearsal space somewhere in the smelly back alleys of England's sleepless capital of London in 2013. There, the first notes of what would become the song 'Attack of the Altaica' sprang from the bass of Jack Townley and Sam Hart's drums. Thus, it is fitting that this earliest demo became the opening track of the band's new rarities collection "Handful of Ten". The infectious blend of warm, syrupy fuzz and soaring vocal harmonies on the "Attack of the Altaica" demo soon led to contract and the debut full-length "Theia" was released in September 2014. Although the album received an excellent reception by critics and fans alike, the hardworking Englishmen did not rest on their laurels. In 2015 they followed up with the self-titled sophomore full-length "Elephant Tree". The next album took longer: ELEPHANT TREE's decision to try a label closer to home ultimately did not work out as the new label ran into trouble, which left the band's third and latest album "Habits" (2020) without the ongoing support it deserved. Looking back at ten most exciting years, ELEPHANT TREE celebrate this occasion with reissues of "Habits" and "Theia" as well as great tunes pulled from their archive alongside the brash and blistering new tracks under the title "Handful of Ten".

VUUR & ZIJDE - Boezem [CD ARTBOOK]
CD hardcover book (18x18 cm, 36 pages), incl. lyrics and extended artwork (400 copies available). "Boezem" ('Bosom'), the debut full-length of Dutch quintet VUUR & ZIJDE ("Fire & Silk") quite remarkably revolves around themes of conditional and unconditional love – and the difference between those, the liberation of intimacy, and motherhood. Obviously, this album politely abstains from going through the motions of tedious heavy metal clichés. Although the Dutch have deep roots in black metal and have been or still are members in such established bands as LASTER, NUSQUAMA, SILVER KNIFE, GREY AURA, WITTE WIEVEN, and TERZIJ DE HORDE, they have shifted stylistically away from their 2020 split-album with IMPAVIDA. Having grown from a trio to a 5-piece has brought a wider range of influences and ideas to the table. The changes are subtle but enough to locate a part of their sound in the evolving and exciting realms of post-black metal. The black side of the music is mainly expressed through whirling drum attacks and buzzing guitar riffs. Yet there is a second strong pillar on which "Boezem" rests, as bands that started out as post-punk acts and developed into more dreamy, meditative sounds such as COCTEAU TWINS and even DEAD CAN DANCE are also named as a source of inspiration. Synthesizer sounds and the beautiful voice of singer Famke naturally contribute to that side of VUUR & ZIJDE. The vocalist is also responsible for various lyrics penned in Frysk (Frisian). This language is still spoken in a few Dutch and German areas along the coast up to the Danish border. The other lyrics are written in Dutch. With "Boezem", VUUR & ZIJDE achieve a perfect balance between their contradictory poles. The aggressive side with elements of black metal that have been transformed into post-black metal contrasts with the light side of shoegaze, post-punk, and wave. Both are entwined in an endless dance that creates fascinating new music, which is at the same time beautiful and yet full of thorns – just like a black rose. Tracklist: 1. Onbemind 2. Zusterzon 3. Ús 4. Omheind 5. Kuier 6. II 7. Nest 8. Adem 9. Naakt

XASTHUR - Disharmonic Variations [CD ARTBOOK]
CD hardcover book (18x18 cm, 36 pages), 2 bonus tracks, incl. recitations by Scott Conner and additional photos (500 copies available). Some guys have all the luck. XASTHUR founder Scott Conner sure ain't one of them. The always open wound of his life suppurates in a constant flow of sonic blood into and out of his latest album "Disharmonic Variations". The thirteen bitter, painful, dirt-stained, and sometimes even hopeful tracks sure ain't pretty "Goldberg Variations" either. Rather the title "Disharmonic Variations" serves as both the program and the message. Music is not just what Scott does. He does not lead a picture book life. There is only music. Scott does not write and record just 8 songs a year. He makes music 24/7 on his own time and in his own way. Scott does it analogue, in the hard old-fashioned way, with his gear and instruments piled up in the room where he stays at the time. In this musical flow of consciousness, this diary of an artist, all considerations of style are a luxury that Scott does not have. His current form of expression on "Disharmonic Variations" tends towards the acidic taste of American dark folk with one detour into ambient sound. There is no guarantee for the direction that XASTHUR will take next. Whatever happens depends on what Scott feels. XASTHUR were originally conceived by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Scott Conner in the year 1995. Although started in the sunny state of California, USA, the project started out in the vein of bleak black metal of the Nordic second wave. In 2010, Scott announced the end of XASTHUR and returned with an acoustic dark folk project under the banner of NOCTURNAL POISONING. In 2015, the American artist circled back to the name XASTHUR, but insisted that his black metal days were over. On the previous release "Inevitably Dark" (2023), XASTHUR have partly lifted the self-imposed ban on black metal, simply because Conner felt like it and therefore did it. With "Disharmonic Variations", XASTHUR deliver their next 'take it or leave it' recording. To Scott Conner it does not matter what other people think about his music. Curse him, praise him – he still only does what he wills and that remains his true artistic achievement. Tracklist: 01. Beginning of a new end 02. Mirrors made of misery 03. Haunted by the living 04. Selling yourself to die 05. Who will smash the mirror of lies 06. Psychedelic darkness in reality 07. Messenger of your reflection 08. Your existence is not enough 09. Other blind believers 10. GREENLEAF - The Head & The Habit [CD ARTBOOK]
Hardcover book CD (18x18 cm, 48 pages) incl. additional artwork. With their ninth full-length "The Head & The Habit", Swedish heavy rockers GREENLEAF have reached the pinnacle of a long evolution. The musical handwriting and well-honed mastery of guitarist Tommi Holappa, who has been a pioneer and pillar of the European stoner rock scene for more than 25 years, shines clearly through. This is perfectly complemented by the soulfulness, intuitive sense of melody, and depth of character that the vocals of classically-trained singer Arvid Hällagård bring to the sound of GREENLEAF. Apart from world-class vocal lines and massive riffs with electric fuzz-power, GREENLEAF have put extra thought into the themes of "The Head & The Habit", which lift its lyrics far above much of the often cliché-ridden genre. As the album title implies, the new songs resemble symbolic short stories that revolve around emotional struggles and even mental illness. Written by the vocalist, the lyrics reflect real life experience as Hällagård works with people who suffer from problems with drug abuse and psychological health. Heavy rock afficionados GREENLEAF were initially formed as an informal project by friends that were already playing in other bands including such notable names as DOZER, LOWRIDER, and DEMON CLEANER. The Swedes simply wanted an outlet for their mutual love of '70s-era hard rock and proto-metal while being free from the expectations and pressures of their main bands. Despite intentions to keep GREENLEAF purely for pleasure, the undiluted joy of creating catchy songs led to everyone demanding for that material to be recorded. This eventually resulted in the release of a self-titled debut EP in 2000, which was quickly followed by first full-length "Revolution Rock" only a year later. Having turned from an on and off fling to a full-time love affair, the years of rotating line-ups ended and GREENLEAF's newfound focus and stability was crowned by their fifth album "Trails & Passes" (2014), which featured new permanent vocalist Arvid Hällagård. This milestone also marked the beginning of a new phase of the band. With "The Head & The Habit", GREENLEAF combine an awareness of past triumphs with mature craftsmanship, showcasing their confidence in how to rock stronger, harder, and more to the point than ever before. The Swedes melt thunderous riff-magic, enrapturing and soul-heavy vocals, frenetic rhythms and driving attacks into a ear-catching, sparkling alloy of hard rocking anthems! Tracklist: 1. Breathe, Breathe Out 2. Avalanche 3. Different Horses 4. A Wolf In My Mind 5. That Obsidian Grin 6. The Sirens Sound 7. Oh Dandelion 8. The Tricking Tree 9. An Alabastrine Smile

CAMERATA MEDIOLANENSE - Atalanta Fugiens [2-CD ARTBOOK]
2CD hardcover book (18x18 cm, 48 pages) with lyrics and enhanced artwork + bonus CD with 4 additional tracks. CAMERATA MEDIOLANENSE are one of these extremely rare musical gems that are hard to categorise. The Italians defy all expectations and transcend the usual conventions about formats, style, and how to generally compose and perform music. With the sixth studio album "Atalanta Fugiens" ("Atalanta Fleeing"), CAMERATA MEDIOLANENSE return to what might be dubbed their 'classic style', which means a strong set of percussion from the rhythm section with light touches of the keyboards achieving a perfect balance with the soaring melodies performed by all vocalists consisting of the wonderful sopranos Carmen, Chiara, and Desirée in the lead as well as harmonious choirs. The Italian ensemble's often rather martial rhythms are accompanied by high-impact melodies built on ancient scales. Two harpsichords, bass viola, and the recurring presence of disturbing sounds, the unconventional manipulation of reverb and delay as well as the use of noise, all aim to create a sound that touches both the heavenly and the infernal. It goes without saying that such carefully crafted music with a strong vocal focus is perfectly reflected in fascinating and well-researched lyrics. The album title "Atalanta Fugiens" refers to an eponymous volume that was released at the beginning of the early modern period in 1617. Written by the German physician and alchemist Michael Maier, this emblem book contains 50 discourses with illustrations by Matthias Merian, each of which is accompanied by an epigrammatic verse, prose, and a musical fugue. After studying the enigmatic book for more than ten years, CAMERATA MEDIOLANENSE composed entirely new music for a selection of emblems starting with the first and ending with the last. CAMERATA MEDIOLANENSE were established in Milan, Italy in 1994 as an ensemble, which also gave the band their name as it literally means a 'group of chamber musicians from Milan' – using the ancient Latin name of the city. As a primus inter pares, classically educated composer Elena Previdi has always written most of the music. She is also a much sought after harpsichord player who regularly performs in the famous Teatro alla Scala in Milan. Not all members of the ensemble come from a classical background. Mostly post-punk, wave, and even traditional music have also played an important part in the band's musical DNA. Over the last three decades, CAMERATA MEDIOLANENSE have built an impressive reputation for highly original albums and outstanding concerts that attract connoisseurs and music lovers from widely different scenes. Often viewed as an amalgamation of neo classic and dark wave, the Italians span a much wider range of styles and forms of expression. With "Atalanta Fugiens", CAMERATA MEDIOLANENSE carry the immense weight and strength of 30 years of creating a unique musical experience way up high to a new shining pinnacle. Tracklist: 01. PERCHTA - D'muata [CD+DVD ARTBOOK]
CD + DVD Hardcover artbook with lyrics, detailed liner notes and enhanced artwork + detailed interview with Frau Percht on DVD (18x18 cm, 72 pages). With PERCHTA's sophomore full-length entitled "D'Muata", which translates from her Alpine Austrian dialect to English as "The Mother", mastermind and vocalist Frau Percht and her band have created a feminist manifesto within a folklore influenced black metal context. Femininity in all its facets is a rather niche topic in this genre although it is an inseparable part of everything human and the natural world around us. Taking their name from an alleged pagan goddess, PERCHTA were conceived in Tyrol, Austria in 2017 with an aim to preserve and rejuvenate regional traditions. Three years later, PERCHTA released their debut album "Ufång" (2020), which established the band's reputation as a highly individualistic and unique act. All lyrics of the entire album are intoned in the Tyrolean vernacular. The words are shrouded in a tempest of tremolo guitars and ritualistic folk with bone-piercing extreme vocals on top. Once touring activities resumed after the global break, PERCHTA also began to earn attention for their outstanding live performances, which strengthened the bonds within the band. Now the black witch of the Tyrolean mountains and her pack return with a magical new album that PERCHTA will also bring to the stage! Tracklist: 1. Vom Verlånga 2. Ois wås ma san 3. Heiliges Bluat 4. BOTANIST - Paleobotany [2-CD ARTBOOK]
2CD Book Edition (hardcover, 18x18cm, 60 pages) incl. liner notes, lyrics, drawings, photos, bonus CD, (500 copies available). On their twelfth full-length "Paleobotany", BOTANIST take us back more than 70 million years to a time when dinosaurs ruled the planet and early forests began to turn to coal. Before the age of giants ended in flames with the apocalyptic impact of the Chicxulub asteroid, many plants also grew much larger than their descendants that we know today. "Paleobotany" comes with all the trademark characteristics that set BOTANIST apart from all other metal acts on this planet. Lyrically, the band from San Francisco, CA revolves around species of plants – in a clean break from the usual genre stereotypes like Satan, dragons, and booze. Their music clearly has its foundation anchored in 'metal', but instead of 6-string guitars the Americans use 110-string hammered dulcimers. To the confused horror of traditionalists, BOTANIST fit these percussion-stringed folk instruments with magnetic pickups and distort them through various perverse means that range from amplifiers via analogue tape to digital manipulation. The resulting sound is as unique as spectacular. BOTANIST's continuing sonic evolution began at an audible Nordic black metal shaped point of entry. The band soon developed a more open, avant-garde style, leading towards a growing complexity. On "Paleobotany", the Californians have shed some of the more convoluted progressive elements in favour of more song-oriented arrangements that are still rich in details and surprises, which is enhanced through the album being mixed by renowned Swedish producer Fredrik Nordström (DIMMU BORGIR, OPETH, AT THE GATES) at Studio Fredman. BOTANIST are a unique band. "Paleobotany" expands their dark green sonic range of an avant-garde metal sound into a more accessible and dynamic sonic experience. When quadruped giants walked the earth, plants were already there and they will still be here when mankind has gone back to stardust. BOTANIST win their musical future by travelling millions of years into the past with "Paleobotany"! Tracklist: 01. Aristolochia 02. When Forests Turned to Coal 03. Magnolia 04. Archaeamphora 05. BRUME - Marten [HARDCOVER BOOK+CD]
CD hardcover book (18x18 cm, 36 pages) featuring exclusive photos, additional album art, lyrics and poetry taken from and inspired by the creation of the album "Marten". BRUME (pronounced 'Broom') are living proof that California is not all sunshine and easy living. The San Francisco-based quartet organically blends doom metal, goth, and indie rock into a sometimes monolithic, and at other times delicate blend of heaviness that resides firmly on the darker side. After a decade of sultry sounds and hair-raising crescendos, BRUME push sonic experimentation and delightful genre-bending even further on their third full-length "Marten". The expansion into a four-piece with the addition of Jackie Perez Gratz on cello and vocals has opened a cosmos of new possibilities that the Californians determinedly explore. Weaving soaring melodies over melancholic doom pop generates songs that are equally intimate and haunting yet also massive and crushing. BRUME originally formed as a trio in 2014 when guitarist Jamie McCathie from Bristol, England began making music with bass player and vocalist Susie McMullan from Baton Rouge, Louisiana after discovering a shared passion for both trip-hop and sludge. The addition of Jordan Perkins-Lewis on drums completed the line-up with his rich and experimental style of drumming, and set the stage for the band's recordings. The trio quickly gained momentum with their doom metal albums "Rooster" (2017) and "Rabbits" (2019), the former being named 'Album of the Year' by The Ripple Effect and the latter earning the top spot on Wonderbox Metal's 'Best of 2019' list. ARD - Untouched By Fire [ARTBOOK 2CD+DVD]
2CD+DVD book edition (hardcover, 18x18cm, 36 pages) with liner notes by Mark Deeks, lyrics, additional photos, plus video and audio recordings of the full “Organic Doom Vol.1” concert with pipe organ (700 copies available). Arð are of Northumbria. With their eagerly awaited sophomore album "Untouched by Fire", the inventors of monastic doom present another stunning milestone on their fast rising trajectory. Both musically and lyrically, mastermind Mark Deeks has climbed to new heights. Arð continue on their mission to explore the culture, heritage, and identity of the Northern English lands of Northumbria. The debut album "Take Up My Bones", followed the legend and century-long wanderings of the relics of Lindisfarne saint, Cuthbert (634–687). The tale narrated on the new full-length shines a light on a very different kind of saint. It revolves around the warrior king Oswald (604–642), who forged Northumbria with fire and sword by uniting the kingdoms of Bernicia and Deira. Oswald was widely regarded as the most powerful Anglo-Saxon king by his contemporaries. On "Untouched by Fire", Arð trace his rise to power from his exile as a youth in Dal Riada due to a family feud, via his victorious battles to conquer the lands that his father Æthelfrith had claimed until his founding of Northumbria. Musically, Arð stay broadly true to their original doom course. The signature 'monkish' choirs also remain prominently present as is to be expected from a musician who works as a choir arranger and conductor among other occupations such as bestselling author, teaching the piano, and playing keyboards in leading UK black metal act WINTERFYLLETH. Yet Deeks has also added new elements for example well-placed sprinkles of prog throughout the album. The compositions on "Untouched by Fire" reflect the gained experience and confidence of their mastermind in the sonic mirror of a more focused songwriting and stronger dynamics. This evolution is aided by the powerful and organic production courtesy of Markus Stock (EMPYRIUM, THE VISION BLEAK) as Arð recorded the album at Klangschmiede Studio E. When Deeks started Arð in the year 2019, the composer did not dare to hope for what was to happen the coming years even in his wildest dreams. His demos soon gained him a label and the first print run of the debut album "Take Up My Bones" (2022) sold out before the album even hit the stores. Several print runs followed and limited editions went quickly as well. The first shows of the band for example at Prophecy Fest in Balve, Germany spread an excellent reputation of Arð as a live act by word of mouth like a wildfire. The band was not only featured in the global metal and music press, but also got interviewed for German state television, renowned UK newspaper The Guardian and mentioned by BBC as well as other British media outlets for their special Organic Doom Show for which Deeks had rearranged tracks from "Take Up My Bones" to be performed by band and a real organ in Huddersfield. The full concert is included in the limited artbook edition on CD and DVD. With the sophomore album "Untouched by Fire", Arð have raised their own bar by several notches. Perfectly arranged monastic doom songs with high dynamics and pristine songwriting have found their match in a massive production. Close your eyes and let the Northumbrians take their listeners to an age when Germanic warrior kings carved out new kingdoms with sword and fire – and a new god by their side from whom they demanded victory in battle! A bloody feast for the ravens, a golden treasure for the ears! Tracklist: 1. Cursed to Nothing but Patience 2. Name Bestowed 3. Hefenfelth 4. He Saw Nine Winters 5. Beset by Weapons 6. THIEF - Bleed, Memory [2CD HARDCOVER ARTBOOK]
2CD Book Edition (Hardcover, 18x18cm, 48 pages), lyrics, drawings, photos, bonus CD features exclusive unreleased tracks.. Dementia is a thief. It robs its victims piece by piece of their memory, identity, family and friends, and often enough even their human dignity. On their fourth full-length album, "Bleed, Memory" Los Angeles-based electronic experimentalists THIEF explore the theme of 'memory' both lyrically and musically, which runs as a bold dotted line throughout the album. The solo project's mastermind, Dylan Neal, was largely inspired for this album after witnessing his father, who had recently been diagnosed with dementia, transition from bouts of forgetfulness and confusion to acute episodes of false memories, delusions, visions, and strange behaviour. This makes "Bleed, Memory" a very personal creation and the experience has led Neal to question his own memories and explore how they shape his identity and reality. Memories are not just the stories we tell ourselves and others and this is evident in Neal's comparison of them to ghosts. Those have no corporal existence, yet scare those who believe in them. Once again, the backbone of THIEF is made up of sampled sacred chant music. Some were sampled from crate digging, and some recorded at various orthodox churches. These samples got stretched, cut, mangled, morphed, and pitched to function like its own ethereal instrument. Neal deliberately designed "Bleed, Memory" to sound haunted. One of the techniques that he used to achieve this effect is 'granular synthesis'. The more prominent use of granular synthesis on this record means that samples got split into small blips of audio, barely exceeding 100 milliseconds. This unique approach, amalgamating musical elements from ambient, industrial, choral music, black metal, and trip-hop, among other influences, into a new sonic experience, has long granted THIEF a cult status among the initiated. Neal once more recorded and mixed most of the album in his apartment. For the mastering he managed to win John Greenham again, whose collaborations include artists ranging from THE LOCUSTS and KATY PERRY to DEATH GRIPS, and who has received three Grammy Awards in 2019 that honoured his mastering for BILLIE EILISH. With "Bleed, Memory", THIEF deliver a dark yet beautiful artistic contemplation of a terrible affliction that is at the same time conveying anger, melancholy, sorrow, and loss as a Gesamtkunstwerk (synthesis of all arts) lyrically, musically, and visually. Beware this sonic ghost will haunt the memories of its listeners! Tracklist: 01. Apparitions 02. Cinderland 03. Paramnesia 04. Pneuma Enthusiastikon 05. Prankquean 06 Dead Coyote Dreams 07. DOOL - The Shape Of Fluidity [HARDCOVER BOOK CD]
CD hardcover book (18x18 cm, 36 pages, front cover with UV spot varnish finishing) incl. preface by Raven van Dorst, essay, additional artwork and drafts by Metastazis, and additional photography. Everything flows, nothing ever stays the same. The same can be said about the third studio album of the fast-rising Dutch rock band DOOL. Aptly entitled "The Shape of Fluidity" there is not just musical innovation but the full-length revolves around themes of personal change, physical change, psychological change, and the ever-changing world around us. DOOL and particularly singer and guitarist Raven van Dorst ask questions: How does change affect us? How do we keep being ourselves in a world that is so incredibly demanding and aggressive towards the individual? We must be as fluid as water to navigate ourselves through this ocean of possibilities and uncertainties – and make peace with chaos and impermanence. Musically, DOOL continue on the path laid out on the two previous studio recordings of heartfelt rock music with added metal elements, while displaying a maturity and focus in songwriting that has grown out of experience. "The Shape of Fluidity" exhibits an eclectic yet seamless amalgamation of progressive and post-rock as well as doom and heavy metal in combination with an inherent catchiness and a dynamic backdrop. It is hardly surprising that the theme of the album that pitches the concept of identity against the backdrop of a world in constant flux connects the album's lyrics to the biography of lead vocalist Raven. Born intersex, doctors at the time assumed that they could surgically determine which kind of life the infant should lead and decided that the child should be a girl. This has led to a life full of soul searching, fighting taboos and breaking boundaries, until recently Raven decided to reclaim that which others have tried so hard to take away from them, and finally embrace their hermaphroditic nature. The band derived the name DOOL from the Dutch word for 'wandering'. When their debut album "Here Now, There Then" was released in 2017, it became an instant success. Their fresh and wild rock and metal sound received "Album of the Month" titles in the renowned German magazines Metal Hammer and Rock Hard as well as the "Best Debut Album 2017" award from the former, while Vice (US), Aardschok (NL), and De Volkskrant (NL) happily chimed in with heaping praise on the young Dutch band. With their sophomore full-length "Summerland" released in 2020, DOOL successfully exceeded the already sky-high expectations and scored even more "Album of the Month" awards in German Rock Hard (10/10) and Sonic Seducer magazines as well as #2 soundcheck positions in Metal.de, Metal Hammer (DE) and another #1 in the Polish edition – with a pile glowing reviews on both sides of the Atlantic. With "The Shape of Fluidity", DOOL offer so much more than just damn cool music. These extra dimensions of depth and meaning are all part of their unique appeal and come out clearly on the new album. May all those who wander gather under the fluid flag of DOOL! Tracklist: 1. Venus in Flames 2. Self-Dissect 3. The Shape of Fluidity 4. Currents 5. Evil in You 6. House of a Thousand Dreams 7. AUSTERE - Beneath The Threshold [HARDCOVER ARTBOOK CD]
CD artbook edition (hardcover, 18x18cm, 36 pages) extended artwork, photos, lyrics, 2 bonus tracks. "Beneath the Threshold" represents AUSTERE in the here and now. With their fourth full-length the Australians have taken a long step into the present and embrace their musical future in a way that might have been expected after a 13-year hiatus. When their voluntary break ended with the release of "Corrosion of Hearts" in 2023, the duo consisting of Mitchell Keepin and Tim Yatras returned with a more mature and defined version of their own particular style of black metal, which reflected both their greater experience and evolution as artists. While "Corrosion of Hearts" formed the bridge between the band's musical history and the artists' fresh vision, "Beneath the Threshold" takes a leap of expression. AUSTERE's sonic heritage is still alive. Even though their roots in early Norse black metal and its depressive Scandinavian offspring continue to shine through, it is also apparent that the Australians have audibly strengthened their emotional expressiveness and previous blackgaze leanings beyond the point where a stylistic shift towards the latter needs to be diagnosed. On "Beneath the Threshold", AUSTERE offer more hooks and melodic harmonies to complement the multi-layered, harsh and dreamlike guitar textures expertly woven by Keepin with the aid of Yatras' emotive drumming. This development is emphasised by a suitable production that lets each of the elements shine and does not try to blur the riffs. For AUSTERE the stars under the Southern Cross have newly aligned and the harsh majestic beauty of "Beneath the Threshold" calls out to everyone to raise their eyes up to the night sky around the globe and behold the finally unleashed Australian band in its full musical glory. Tracklist: 1. Thrall 2. The Sunset of Life 3. Faded Ghost 4. Cold Cerecloth 5. Words Unspoken (Interlude) 6. Of Severance Bonus tracks (artbook only): 7. Cycle of Collapse 8. Cross My Heart and Hope to Die (Sentenced cover)

ISENORDAL - Requiem for Eirênê [2-CD HARDCOVER ARTBOOK]
2CD hardcover artbook (18x18 cm, 48 pages) with narrative essay, drawings, photos, lyrics, bonus EP “Imbolc MMXIV” (first time on CD), plus a reworked bonus track.. ISENORDAL are different. Not fitting easily into the given stylistic drawers can often turn out to be both a blessing and a curse for a metal band. The six-piece from Seattle, WA in the United States is particularly hard to pin down. If push comes to shove, they could be described as a funeral doom act, although this hardly does their wide musical range justice. There are also notable influences of black metal, especially the harsh vocals but also the occasional vicious outbreaks of blizzard-riffs. Then again, the metal elements are diligently balanced by beautiful acoustic passages of American neofolk. On their third full-length, "Requiem for Eirênê", ISENORDAL have driven the interplay and cohesion of their musical core elements to a new level. The epic, meandering, and multi-faceted songs on this album each tell a dramatic story. Lead by various types of vocals, both female and male, that flow organically into each other, a wide array of instruments paints highly dynamic and lush sonic pictures. Each song of "Requiem for Eirênê" reveals a chapter of an overarching conceptual story that spans the whole of the album. The tale was written by drummer Brian Spenser and reflects personal experience that has been transformed into a profound mythological world, which is musically illustrated by ISENORDAL. In its course, the band is drawing from ancient myth, occultism, astrology, and the tarot among other symbolic systems to express a spiritual journey involving love, loss, grief in all its stages, hope, disappointment, exploitation, spiritual revelation, surrender, and finally, apotheosis. With "Requiem for Eirênê", ISENORDAL dare to face the curse that creating different and unique music can bring, and they conjure the blessing that an excitingly new and skilfully achieved magical sound may award. May the American funeral doom innovators reap the fruits of what they have so bravely sown! Tracklist: 1. A Moment Approaches Eternity 2. Await Me, Ultima Thule 3. Requiem for Eirênê 4. Epiphanies of Abhorrence and Futility 5. Saturnine Apotheosis Bonus tracks (artbook only): 1. Hymn of Immortal Grace 2. Orpheus's Lament 3. Requiem for the Dying God 4.
