Background information about 'The Colony Slain'
Nearly five years after their acclaimed debut "Desperate Souls Of Tortured Times", Age Of Taurus return with a vengeance on "The Colony Slain", an album that showcases the band's evolution into heavy metal royalty. With a revitalized lineup featuring new bassist Leo Smee (With The Dead/ex-Cathedral) alongside mastermind Toby W. Wright, drummer Darius Claydon, and guitarist Daniel Knight, this is doom metal reborn in glorious heavy metal splendor.
These stubborn mavericks have crafted something truly special here – songs that demolish any notion of doom as a one-dimensional genre. Tracks like the fiery opener "Taken To The Tower" and the rampaging "In Dream We Die" showcase elaborate song structures that proudly salute old school heavy metal while maintaining that rumbling sonic bedrock of Trouble, Candlemass, and Sabbath. The gritty swagger of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal courses through these veins, creating a flat-out celebration of the metal code that spans from radio-friendly hard rock to crossover thrash territories.
