More about 'To The Stars'
Beborn Beton continues to build on their legacy with the EP "To the Stars," which seamlessly follows their ninth album "Darkness Falls Again." The German synth-pop trio expands the musical breadth of the album with three new tracks and four remixes while staying true to its spirit both lyrically and musically. There is more than one way to experience Beborn Beton's ninth album: It's perfect for dancing or enjoying as contemporary synth-pop anthems rooted in the golden '80s with a touch of '90s influences. Catchy melodies and sophisticated songwriting blend into a sonic joyride. Yet, Beborn Beton also places a finger on the pulse of our times, lyrically speaking out against misogyny, sexual discrimination, and environmental destruction. Established in 1989 by vocalist Stefan Netschio, keyboardist and drummer Stefan Tillmann, and keyboardist Michael Wagner, the German trio has successfully aimed to keep synth-pop relevant and enriched by meaningful content. From their initial albums "Tybalt" (1993) and "Concrete Ground" (1994), Beborn Beton found themselves alongside notable acts like Wolfsheim and De/Vision at their new label home. As they solidified their presence in Germany, they expanded internationally with the 1996 album "Nightfall," receiving accolades from critics and fans alike with subsequent releases such as "Truth" (1997) and "Fake" (1999). By 2000's "Rückkehr zum Eisplaneten," they had firmly established themselves as headliners in the electronic music scene globally. However, demanding tours and creatively ambitious releases took their toll. Following 2002's "Tales from Another World"—which included an extensive US tour—Beborn Beton took a long hiatus. To the delight of their loyal fan base, they returned 13 years later with a new album on Dependent Records. "A Worthy Compensation" (2015) was met with critical acclaim from magazines like Sonic Seducer and Orkus. Intentionally avoiding a relentless production cycle, the trio took ample time to compose another masterpiece. "Darkness Falls Again" encompasses all the delightful elements that make synth-pop so great: infectious songs that make you move your feet, a hint of melancholy, a dose of irony, but also a pinch of anger. With their last album, Beborn Beton delivered music with intention and intellect—a tradition that continues seamlessly on the EP "To the Stars." Welcome back once more, Beborn Beton!
