Background information about 'More Balls to Picasso'
Bruce Dickinson has always been more than just the voice of Iron Maiden — he's a restless spirit, a Renaissance man who refuses to be pinned down. And "More Balls to Picasso", originally released in 1997, is arguably his most underrated solo outing. Now, this 2025 Reimagined Edition breathes new life into a record that deserves way more love.
What strikes you first is how loose and alive these songs sound. The reimagined versions aren't just remasters — they're re-recorded with a fresh fire that captures the energy of a band locked in a room and going for it. From the swaggering opener Cyclops to the anthemic stomp of Hell No, every track feels sharper, punchier, and more immediate. The blues-rock swagger of Tears of the Dragon still hits like a sledgehammer to the chest, while deeper cuts like Change of Heart and Laughing in the Hiding Bush reveal new layers in the mix. The two live-in-the-studio bonus tracks — Gods of War and Shoot All the Clowns — are pure adrenaline, capturing Dickinson at his most unhinged and charismatic.
This is rock music played with conviction, wit, and that unmistakable British swagger. No filler, no pretension — just a master showman doing what he does best.
