Background information about 'Give Me Dirt'
There are bands that evolve, and then there are bands that just get louder, meaner, and more unhinged with every record. Cancer Bats have always belonged to the latter camp, and Give Me Dirt is proof that they're not slowing down one bit. This record hits like a sledgehammer to the chest — a glorious, filthy collision of hardcore punk, sludge metal, and the kind of rock 'n' roll swagger that made you fall in love with heavy music in the first place.
From the opening riff, Liam Cormier's signature roar is unmistakable, cutting through the mix like a buzzsaw. The rhythms are punishing, the breakdowns are massive, and the whole thing sounds like it was recorded in a sweaty basement show where the walls are closing in. There's a raw, live-wire energy here that so many modern metal records polish away — Cancer Bats keep it dirty, keep it real, and keep it absolutely crushing. Whether it's the groove-laden stompers or the all-out hardcore assaults, Give Me Dirt is the sound of a band at the peak of their powers, doing exactly what they do best.
