Background information about 'Nichts'
Nichts – the very title dares you to look closer, and Fjort reward that curiosity with an album that feels like a slow-burning fuse across thirteen tracks. Hailing from Germany, this post-rock outfit has crafted a record that breathes – shifting between hushed, atmospheric passages and towering, cathartic crescendos with remarkable ease. Tracks like NICHTS and WASSER unfold patiently, layering shimmering guitars and understated rhythms before letting the tension snap in gloriously satisfying ways.
What makes Nichts so compelling is its refusal to play by the usual post-rock rules. There is a warmth and intimacy here that sets Fjort apart from the genre's more bombastic acts. BONHEUR glows with quiet optimism, while SCHROT and KOLT bring a grittier, more angular edge that keeps the listener on their toes. The album's closing stretch, from FERNOST through TAU to the final LOD, feels like a perfectly paced descent into something both melancholic and strangely hopeful. This is music that rewards patience and repeated listens – a record that reveals new corners with every spin.
