Background information about 'Vol.5: 1999-2009'
Forgotten Tomb delivers a haunting retrospective with "Vol.5 : 1999-2009", a comprehensive collection that showcases the Italian doom/black metal masters at their most introspective and devastating. This double LP compilation spans a decade of the band's evolution, capturing the raw essence of their atmospheric depression and sonic brutality. From the crushing weight of "Black Sabbath/Subway Apathy" to the melancholic depths of "Love's Burial Ground", each track represents a carefully curated journey through darkness and despair.
The collection brilliantly demonstrates Forgotten Tomb's ability to blend traditional black metal ferocity with doom-laden passages that crawl through your consciousness like winter fog. Tracks like "Entombed By Winter/House Of Nostalgia" showcase their mastery of extended compositions, while shorter pieces such as "Papercuts" prove their knack for concentrated emotional impact. This isn't just a greatest hits compilation – it's a statement of intent from a band that has consistently pushed the boundaries of atmospheric extreme metal.
