Background information about 'Crowned In Frost'
Frozen Crown waste no time. "Crowned In Frost" opens the gates and lets the guitars do the talking — twin-axe riffing, galloping double bass and a chorus that lodges itself somewhere between your ribcage and your memory. The Italian outfit plays power metal with a very modern gleam: sharp, fast, and polished enough to catch the light, but never so slick that it loses its bite. There is a real hunger in these songs, the sound of a band that knows exactly what it wants to be and refuses to apologise for it.
What lifts the record above the usual sword-and-sorcery fare is the balance. The keyboards add atmosphere without smothering the riffs, the rhythm section drives like a runaway train, and the vocals soar with genuine conviction rather than just hitting the high notes for the sake of it. Melodic, anthemic and unashamedly grand, "Crowned In Frost" is the kind of debut that makes you sit up and take notice — a cold title for a record that burns this hot.
