Background information about 'Live On Location'

Hades (USA) were never the band that got the shiny magazine covers, and honestly, that is exactly what makes "Live On Location" such a thrill to revisit. This is the sound of a New Jersey outfit that worshipped at the altar of thrash, power metal and good old-fashioned heavy riffing, played loud and played like their lives depended on it. The 1991 live document catches them mid-swing, all ragged energy and razor-wire guitars, and it still hits harder than most of what passes for "live" these days.

What makes this Cyclone Empire re-release so tempting is the sheer amount of stuff crammed in here. The original show has been remastered, giving those crunching riffs a proper kick in the chest, and the package is rounded out with six bonus tracks that push the running time well past the hour mark. Add fully revised artwork, liner notes and a stack of photos, and you have a proper document of a band that deserved way more than cult status. Tracks like "King In Exile" and the sprawling "Aftermath Of Betrayal" show a group that could swing between neck-snapping speed and brooding, doom-tinged heaviness without ever losing the plot. It is raw, it is sweaty, and it is gloriously unpolished in the best possible way.
