Background information about 'Somewhere In Time (Remastered)'
Iron Maiden's sixth studio masterpiece "Somewhere In Time" stands as a towering achievement in heavy metal history, showcasing the band at their most adventurous and sonically ambitious. Released in 1986, this album marked a bold departure into synthesizer-enhanced territory while maintaining the crushing power that made the band legends. From the opening assault of "Caught Somewhere In Time" to the epic historical narrative of "Alexander The Great," every track demonstrates why Iron Maiden remains the undisputed kings of heavy metal.
The album's crown jewel, "Wasted Years," became an instant classic with its infectious melody and Bruce Dickinson's soaring vocals, while deeper cuts like "The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner" and "Stranger In A Strange Land" reveal the band's literary influences and progressive sensibilities. Steve Harris's thunderous bass work drives each composition with relentless precision, while the triple guitar attack of Dave Murray, Adrian Smith, and Janick Gers creates layers of melodic complexity that reward repeated listening. This remastered edition brings new clarity to the album's futuristic production, allowing every nuance of Nicko McBrain's powerful drumming to shine through.
