Background information about 'Fatal Portrait'
The theatrical horror metal legend delivers a spine-chilling masterpiece with "Fatal Portrait", King Diamond's debut solo album that redefined the boundaries between heavy metal and theatrical storytelling. Released in 1986, this album showcases the Danish maestro's incredible vocal range and his ability to weave dark narratives that grip listeners from the very first note. With tracks like "The Candle" and "Halloween", the album creates an atmosphere so haunting it practically seeps through your speakers like fog from a graveyard.
Unlike many of King Diamond's later concept albums, "Fatal Portrait" presents a collection of individual horror stories, each more captivating than the last. The title track draws inspiration from Oscar Wilde's "The Picture of Dorian Gray", while songs like "Lurking In The Dark" and "Voices From The Past" demonstrate the band's mastery of progressive song structures and atmospheric arrangements. This white vinyl reissue captures every shriek, every whisper, and every bone-chilling moment with pristine clarity.
