Background information about 'Hopium'
Kingcrow returns with their seventh studio effort, and what a magnificent beast "Hopium" turns out to be! The Italian progressive rock masters have crafted their most cohesive and emotionally resonant work to date, weaving together ten tracks that showcase their remarkable evolution as songwriters and musicians. From the opening notes of "Kintsugi" – named after the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold – the band sets a tone of beautiful reconstruction and renewal that permeates the entire album.
The centerpiece "Hopium" itself is an eight-minute epic that perfectly encapsulates the band's ability to balance intricate progressive arrangements with deeply melodic sensibilities. Tracks like "Parallel Lines" and "White Rabbit's Hole" demonstrate their knack for creating atmospheric soundscapes that draw you deeper into their sonic world, while "Glitch" and "Vicious Circle" showcase their heavier, more dynamic side. The bonus track "Come Through" serves as a perfect epilogue, leaving listeners craving more of this exceptional musical journey.
