KORN returned in 2002 with Untouchables, an album that saw the Bakersfield quintet pushing their signature sound into darker, more experimental territory while simultaneously delivering some of the heaviest and most emotionally raw material of their career. Recorded at a time of immense personal turmoil for frontman Jonathan Davis, who was battling addiction and personal demons, the record bleeds pain, anger, and catharsis in equal measure. The production, handled by the band alongside Nick Raskulinecz and Michael Beinhorn, is absolutely massive — layers of distorted guitars, haunting electronic textures, and Davis's unmistakable vocal delivery swinging from whispered vulnerability to guttural screams.

The album kicks off with the crushing single Here To Stay, a ferocious assault that became an instant classic and earned the band a Grammy. But Untouchables is far more than just its hits. Tracks like Thoughtless build from a haunting, minimalist verse into an explosive, anthemic chorus, while Alone I Break showcases a more introspective, almost fragile side of the band. Hollow Life and No One\u2019s There drift through melancholic, atmospheric landscapes that reveal Korn's growing sophistication as songwriters. Beat It Upright and Wake Up Hate bring the raw aggression back to the forefront. This is Korn at their most ambitious — unpolished, unapologetic, and utterly captivating.
