Background information about 'Mercyful Fate EP'

The genesis of extreme metal gets the royal treatment it deserves! This exclusive white vinyl reissue of Mercyful Fate's legendary self-titled debut EP from 1982 is nothing short of essential for any serious metalhead. This four-track masterpiece laid the groundwork for what would become one of the most influential bands in heavy music history, serving as the crucial bridge between their early demos and the full-length masterwork "Melissa".

King Diamond's operatic wails pierce through Hank Shermann's razor-sharp riffs on classics like "A Corpse Without Soul" and the blasphemously brilliant "Nuns Have No Fun". The occult atmosphere is thick as blood, with "Doomed By The Living Dead" and "Devil Eyes" showcasing the band's unique ability to blend traditional heavy metal with dark, theatrical elements that would inspire generations of extreme metal acts. This isn't just a reissue – it's a pilgrimage back to the unholy altar where black metal was truly born.

For fans of:
King Diamond, Venom, Celtic Frost, Bathory, Mayhem
