Background information about 'Cycle of the Dying Sun - Dawn of Ashen Realms'

There are few names in the death/doom underground that carry the weight of Runemagick. For over three decades, Nicklas Rudolfsson has been dragging the genre into the mire, and with "Cycle of the Dying Sun (Dawn of Ashen Realms)" he delivers something that feels both ancient and strangely renewed. This is a record written, performed, and conjured entirely by one man — vocals, guitars, bass, synths, drums, the whole crushing apparatus — and you can hear that singular vision in every slow-burning second.

What hits you first is just how stripped-down and immersive this thing is. The relentless mid-tempo churn is there, that signature descent into dust and ruin, but there is a meditative depth here that feels new. The riffs lumber and drag like something unearthed, while the synthesizers drift in like cold fog over the old ways. A few carefully chosen guests add extra dimensions, but this is unmistakably Rudolfsson's ritual from start to finish. Six core compositions form the spine, and the whole affair plays out like a ceremonial march toward the ashen horizon.

This is not a band resting on its legacy — it is a new chapter carved directly out of the path laid down on "Beyond the Cenotaph of Mankind", only now the descent goes deeper. Recorded at Sonic Train Studios with the legendary Andy La Rocque behind the desk, the production is massive yet organic, letting every doomy chord breathe. If you live for that slow, crushing, otherworldly drift, this is essential listening.
