Background information about 'Despite The Rise Of The Sun'

Solemn Vision have been quietly building a reputation as one of the most interesting voices in progressive death metal, and "Despite The Rise Of The Sun" is the record where all that promise finally lands with full force. The band plays with a rare sense of patience — riffs unfold instead of simply hitting, melodies creep in through the cracks of the heaviness, and the whole thing breathes like something living. There is real craft in the way these songs shift gears, moving from crushing, low-tuned passages into passages of unexpected warmth without ever losing the thread.

What makes this album stick is the songwriting. Tracks like the opener and the sprawling "The Cerebral Labyrinth" show a group that understands dynamics — when to pull back, when to let the distortion roar, and when to let a clean guitar line do the talking. The production is dense but clear, giving every instrument room to speak, and the vocal performance carries genuine weight rather than just volume. It is the kind of record that rewards repeat listens, revealing new details each time you sit with it. Closing with an acoustic reworking of "Unfinished Tapestry" is a smart, affecting touch that reframes everything you just heard.
