Background information about 'Second To None'
Second To None is the kind of hard rock record that grabs you by the collar in the first thirty seconds and refuses to let go until the last chord fades. SpiteFuel built this thing like a sledgehammer with a melody problem — every riff lands heavy, but there's always a hook hiding just behind the distortion, waiting to burrow into your skull. "Purified" is the obvious calling card here, a chugging, fist-in-the-air anthem that shows exactly what this band is about: grit, groove, and a chorus you'll be humming long after the needle lifts.
What makes the record tick is the range hiding under all that muscle. "Whorehouse Symphony" slinks and snarls with a nasty, bluesy swagger, while "Sleeping With The Wolves" trades pure aggression for something darker and more brooding. Then there's "Admah's Tribes" and the opener "On Burning Wings," both carrying the fingerprints of Arkadius Antonik, whose songwriting gives the heavier moments a real sense of drama and shape. It's a tight, no-filler eleven-track run that never overstays its welcome — just lean, mean, riff-driven hard rock with the occasional sharp left turn to keep you on your toes.
