SUFFOCATION · Pierced From Within | TRANSPARENT BLUE LP

Transparent blue vinyl, standard cover, limited edition.

Background information about 'Pierced From Within'

There are death metal records that hit hard, and then there is "Pierced From Within" — the 1995 slab that turned Suffocation from Long Island bruisers into the architects of an entire subgenre. Nearly three decades on, the riffs of Doug Cerrito and Terrance Hobbs still land like a collapsing building: "Thrones Of Blood" opens with that lurching, guttural groove before Frank Mullen's growl bulldozes straight through the middle, and "Depths Of Depravity" keeps twisting the knife with pinch harmonics and blast-beat whiplash that modern bands still study like scripture.

What makes this record so enduring is the sheer musicianship hiding under all that brutality. Mike Smith's drumming is a masterclass in controlled chaos — he never just blasts for the sake of it, he carves out space, drops in a fill, and lets the low end breathe before the next assault. Tracks like "Suspended In Tribulation" and "Breeding The Spawn" prove that technical death metal can be genuinely memorable, not just a math exercise. Every tempo shift feels earned, every breakdown feels like a gut punch you asked for.

This reissue brings the whole thing back on transparent blue vinyl, and honestly, it looks as vicious as it sounds. If you missed the original pressings or just want a copy that isn't going to cost you a mortgage payment, this is the one to grab.
