Background information about 'V'
Theodor Bastard has always been a band that refuses to stay within the boundaries of tradition. With their fifth studio album, simply titled 'V', they have taken a bold step away from their Karelian roots and into the cold, sharp, and tense reality of modern urban life. After five years of relative silence, the world music pioneers have reconnected with their early electronic impulses, creating a sound that is both aggressive and deeply atmospheric. The album reflects the anger, confusion, and disappointment of a world tipping over the edge, yet it retains the ritualistic spirit that has defined the band since their inception.
Tracks like the pulse-pounding "Nebo" and the trap-infused "Sverkay" showcase a new direction, blending distorted bass lines with haunting vocals. Yana Veva’s bewitching voice guides us through this dangerous endgame of war, technology, and social division. "Vdokh – vydokh" (inhale-exhale) serves as a warning, while "Ostavlyaem" offers a fleeting moment of lightness before transcending into cosmic territory. This is not just an album; it is a slap across the face for a world mired in its own deadly trance. Theodor Bastard returns with dark electronics for dark times, proving that their ritual spirit remains intact even in the face of collapse. For fans of HEILUNG, GARMARNA, WARDRUNA.
