The Turned To Stone series has always worked like a great split bill in a sweaty basement club, and "Chapter 11" keeps that tradition alive with Lady Lizard and A Broken Design sharing one slab of wax. What you get here is heavy rock with sand in its shoes: thick, fuzzed-out riffing, a rhythm section that swings more than it stomps, and vocals that sound like they were tracked in one take with the amps still humming. Lady Lizard bring the swagger, all rolling grooves and smoky hooks that lodge themselves somewhere behind your ears after the second spin. A Broken Design answer with a darker, knottier set of songs, trading sunshine for shade and letting the guitars grind against each other until something sparks.
Together the two sides make a record that feels like a conversation rather than a competition. The production is warm and uncluttered, guitars pushed forward, drums given room to breathe, and the whole thing has that lovely lived-in quality of a band playing loud in a small room. Nothing here is overthought. Riffs arrive, land hard, and move on before they wear out their welcome.
