"Birna," which translates to bear in Old Norse, is a tribute to the forest's guardian and her earthly struggles. As modern society encroaches upon her habitat, she retreats into a state of perpetual hibernation. Consequently, the forest mourns for its vibrant heart—its protector—and yearns for her return. The bear, a revered figure in ancient northern hemisphere myths and still honored by many indigenous cultures as a totemic creature, represents both our feared predator and revered guide. The rhythmic heartbeat of this slumbering giant, at approximately nine beats per minute, echoes throughout the album.
