Background information about 'Almost Human'
Wormhole delivers a crushing blend of technical death metal and progressive elements on "Almost Human", their latest offering that pushes the boundaries of extreme music into fascinating new territories. The French quartet has crafted eight tracks that seamlessly weave together brutal technicality with atmospheric passages, creating a sonic landscape that feels both alien and disturbingly familiar. From the opening assault of "System Erase" to the haunting finale of "The Grand Oscillation", the album showcases the band's ability to balance crushing heaviness with intricate musicianship that never feels overly complex for complexity's sake.
The production on "Almost Human" is pristine yet retains the raw edge necessary for this style of music, allowing every instrument to cut through the mix with surgical precision. Tracks like "Spine Shatter High-Velocity Impact" and "Data Fortress Orbital Stationary" demonstrate the band's knack for creating memorable hooks within their technical framework, while the title track "Almost Human" serves as a perfect centerpiece that balances aggression with moments of genuine emotional weight. The album's sci-fi themed lyrics and futuristic soundscapes create an immersive experience that feels like a journey through a dystopian digital realm.
