With American idealism crashing down and societal unity burning to ashes, Denver's Abrams have channeled their fury into something absolutely devastating. Following 2024's soaring "Blue City" – which Metal Hammer praised as "an upswell of positivity in the face of frustration" – the band has emerged from the wreckage with a completely different beast. This isn't the hopeful world of their previous album anymore.
"Loon" is pure, unfiltered rage distilled into sonic form. The grinding hopelessness of our current reality has pushed Abrams into Converge territory – urgent, abrasive, and absolutely pulverizing. Those wistful melodies that once defined them? They're still there, but now they twist into dissonance and aggression. The crystalline beauty remains, but it's inhabited by bitterness and seething anger. This is a band that's had enough, and they're not holding back anymore.
