Aisling – a name that translates from Gaelic to "dream" or "vision" – delivers exactly that with Stone Of Light. This is heavy metal with a Celtic soul, a record that weaves ancient Irish mythology into thunderous riffs and galloping rhythms. From the opening instrumental "Speir-Bhean Calling" (referring to the spectral bean sí or banshee), you're transported to misty hills, ancient stone circles, and battlefields soaked in legend.
The title track "Stone Of Light" kicks in with a massive, anthemic chorus that sticks in your head for days. But what sets Aisling apart is their willingness to experiment – the haunting acoustic interlude "Whispers From The Circle Tress" breaks up the aggression beautifully before "Percedol" drags you back into the mosh pit. The two-part "Where Immortality Lies" is the album's centerpiece, shifting from melancholic clean passages to full-on metal assault. Closer "Bora" ends things on a surprisingly atmospheric note, leaving you wanting more. This is thinking man's heavy metal with melody, muscle, and mythology in perfect balance.
