ALEYNMORD · The Blinding Light | BLACK LP

Black vinyl.

Background information about 'The Blinding Light'

There is a moment on "The Blinding Light" where the guitars stop circling and simply lunge, and Aleynmord sound less like a band than like weather coming over a ridge. This is black metal that remembers how to be frightening without leaning on the usual tricks — no endless tremolo wallpaper, no cheap cavern reverb standing in for atmosphere. Instead the riffs are built like architecture: cold, deliberate, and full of corners you do not see until you have already walked into them.

The record breathes in long, punishing arcs. "Spores Of Possession" opens with a coiled, almost ceremonial tension before the blastbeats arrive and tear the whole thing open, while "Wounded Monolith" drags its weight around like something bleeding out slowly. By the time the title track lands, the band has settled into a groove that is genuinely nasty — melodic in the way a wound is interesting, memorable in the way a bad dream is. "Poetry Of Marrow And Rot" closes things with a title that tells you exactly where the song is going, and it goes there with real conviction.

What sells it is the restraint. Aleynmord know when to pull back, when to let a single dissonant chord hang in the air, when to let the drums do the talking. The production keeps everything dry and close, so the violence feels personal rather than theatrical. It is a record that rewards repeated listens, and it is one of those black metal debuts-adjacent statements that makes you want to check the calendar and see how long you have to wait for the next one.
