French heavy metal maniacs Animalize are back with their second full-length "Verminateur", and this time they're unleashing their fury entirely in French – something fans have been demanding since their 2020 "Tales From the Crypt" EP. While their 2022 debut "Meat We're Made Of" showcased a restless genius blending speed metal with power-thrash and traditional metal, "Verminateur" sees the band locking into laser-sighted focus with an anthemic approach they only hinted at before. The album's ten tracks (including the cinematic "Invasion" and dramatic piano piece "Prière de Remords") hit that perfect balance between buoyant hooks and heavy thrust, between rock-god maximalism and back-street mischief.

Mostly mid-tempo and strutting with charisma, these tracks could've easily found their way onto MTV circa 1985 – if that channel had aired in France. When Animalize decide to rip forth in speed metal mode, they do so with streamlined power that's absolutely mesmerizing. The all-French lyrics make "Verminateur" even more sublime, surprising and above all unique. For he is the earth cancer eliminator – he is the VERMINATEUR! Because the vermin is you.
