Background information about 'Erzketzer'
Just one year after their crushing 2017 album "Primitiv", Arroganz return with a venomous three-track EP that serves as the middle chapter of an ambitious trilogy. "Erzketzer" translates to "arch-heretic" and boy, does this German extreme metal outfit live up to that blasphemous promise. This isn't just another EP – it's a calculated assault on conventional morality, a heretic anthem spat directly in the face of the masses. The band has crafted something that stands proudly on its own while bridging their past and future works.
What makes "Erzketzer" so compelling is its hellish amalgamation of black, doom, and death metal elements, all delivered with an unapologetic "fuck off" attitude that feels both refreshing and terrifying. The three tracks span nearly 20 minutes of pure darkness, with the closing track "As Furious Wings Cast Long Shadows" stretching to almost 11 minutes of atmospheric brutality. Arroganz have created something that feels like a commitment ceremony for non-believers, a sonic ritual that celebrates the outsider's path with every crushing riff and blasphemous growl.
