Background information about 'All Things Are Equal in Death'
Subconscious deliver a masterclass in progressive extremity with "All Things Are Equal in Death", an album that seamlessly weaves intricate songwriting with crushing brutality. These German metal architects have crafted something truly special here – a collection of tracks that twist and turn through labyrinthine passages while never losing their devastating impact. The band's ability to balance technical prowess with raw emotional power is nothing short of remarkable, creating music that challenges both mind and soul.
What elevates this release beyond typical progressive death metal fare is the stellar lineup of guest musicians. Victor Smolski from Rage brings his legendary guitar wizardry, while Rüdiger Fleck (ex-Rawhead Rexx, ex-Letter X) adds his own distinctive fretwork magic. Perhaps most intriguingly, Philiip Dürr from Jagga Bites Combo contributes saxophone elements that push the boundaries of what extreme metal can encompass. This isn't just another heavy album – it's a statement of artistic ambition that succeeds on every level.
