Carnivore A.D.

Carnivore A.D. emerged in 2020 from the ashes of one of the most controversial and influential crossover acts of the 1980s. As the direct successor to Carnivore, who between 1982 and 1987 redefined the boundaries between hardcore punk and thrash metal, Carnivore A.D. continues the uncompromising legacy of the original formation under a new banner.
The formation occurred through Keith Alexander and Baron Misuraca, both original Carnivore members, after legal disputes over the original band name prevented continuation under the historic moniker. Following Peter Steele's death in 2010, Carnivore's musical legacy remained dormant until the surviving members decided to reactivate the characteristic blend of brutal riffs and provocative lyrics under the Carnivore A.D. name. Steve Tobin completed the three-piece lineup on bass.
Musically, Carnivore A.D. seamlessly connects to the aesthetics of the late 1980s. The band practices a raw, unmediated crossover style that combines the velocity of early thrash metal with the directness of New York hardcore. Production remains deliberately unpolished, transporting the energy of the original Roadrunner Records releases from 1985 and 1987. Thematically, the band continues to navigate the controversial territories that already defined the original Carnivore.
The debut album appeared in 2021, demonstrating that Carnivore A.D. represents more than mere nostalgia exercise. Recordings were created while maintaining the analog production methods that characterized the distinctive sound of the New York crossover scene of the 1980s. For collectors of limited vinyl editions and connoisseurs of the early crossover movement, Carnivore A.D. presents an authentic continuation of one of the genre's most formative bands.
