Background information about 'To Drink From The Night Itself'
The gods of Swedish melodic death metal strike back with a vengeance. AT THE GATES return to their raw, uncompromising roots with To Drink From The Night Itself, an album that grabs you by the throat and doesn't let go. After years of evolution and experimentation, this record is a glorious, blood-soaked homecoming — straight-forward, razor-sharp, and utterly relentless. From the opening resistance anthem to the crushing closer, every track is a masterclass in blending ferocious aggression with that unmistakable melodic sensibility that made the Gothenburg scene legendary. The riffs are tighter, the drums hit harder, and vocalist Tomas Lindberg sounds as possessed as ever, spitting venom and poetry in equal measure. Tracks like the title track and Daggers Of Black Haze are instant classics, while The Mirror Black closes the album with a haunting, epic atmosphere that lingers long after the final chord fades. This is not just a return to form — it's a statement. At The Gates are still kings, and they've come to reclaim the throne.
