Background information about 'Battle Magic'

The year is 1998, and the mighty Bal-Sagoth have just dropped the final piece of their legendary First Trilogy. “Battle Magic” is the grand, bombastic climax to a saga that redefined symphonic black metal. From the very first notes, you're swept into a world of epic fantasy warfare, where Byron Roberts' unmistakable, theatrical narration weaves tales of ancient kingdoms, sorcery, and blade-clashing glory. The orchestral keyboards swirl around razor-sharp riffing, creating a sound that's both majestic and utterly ferocious. Tracks like “Naked Steel (The Warrior’s Saga)” and “Blood Slakes the Sand at the Circus Maximus” are pure adrenaline, while the sprawling title track sets the scene with cinematic grandeur. This newly remastered edition breathes fresh life into the album, making every cymbal crash and orchestral swell hit harder than ever. The 32-page booklet includes an exclusive new interview with Roberts, offering deep insight into the lyrical world-building that makes Bal-Sagoth so unique. This is sword & sorcery metal at its most unapologetically over-the-top, and it’s an absolute joy to revisit.
