Background information about 'Morbid Tales'
Celtic Frost's “Morbid Tales” is a cornerstone of the first wave of black metal, a genre-defining release that still resonates with its primal energy and dark, atmospheric soundscapes. Originally released in 1984, this album is a testament to the band's innovative approach to metal, blending elements of speed and black metal with a raw, unpolished edge that was groundbreaking at the time. The tracks are a relentless assault of heavy riffs, thundering drums, and Tom G. Warrior's iconic vocal style, which together create a haunting and powerful listening experience.
This reissue brings back the ferocity of the original with a crisp remastering that enhances the depth and intensity of each track. From the opening notes of “Into The Crypts Of Rays” to the chilling echoes of “Nocturnal Fear”, the album maintains a relentless pace that captures the listener's attention and refuses to let go. The inclusion of rehearsal tracks as bonus material offers a glimpse into the band's creative process, showcasing the raw energy and passion that fueled their early work.
