This is epic doom metal at its most towering, most triumphant, and most emotionally devastating. From the very first crushing riff, you know you're in for something special: the kind of record that makes you want to throw your fist in the air while simultaneously contemplating the fragility of existence.

The Philadelphia outfit has outdone themselves here, weaving together massive, cathedral-sized riffs with soaring, almost operatic vocals that recall the golden age of Candlemass and Solitude Aeturnus, yet with a distinctly modern edge. The songwriting is tighter, the melodies more immediate, and the production absolutely massive — every cymbal crash, every bass rumble, every guitar harmony hits with the weight of a collapsing monument. There's a sense of grandeur here that few bands can pull off without veering into self-parody, but Crypt Sermon walk that line with the confidence of true masters. The title track alone is worth the price of admission, a sprawling epic that builds and builds until it feels like the sky itself might crack open.
