Background information about 'Shades Of Sorrow'

Brazilian death metal powerhouse Crypta delivers their sophomore full-length with "Shades Of Sorrow", a relentless assault that showcases the band's evolution since their explosive debut. The quartet, featuring former Nervosa members Fernanda Lira and Luana Dametto alongside Sonia Anubis and Tainá Bergamaschi, has crafted an album that balances technical prowess with raw emotional intensity. The record explores themes of grief, loss, and inner turmoil through crushing riffs and Lira's commanding vocal delivery that seamlessly shifts between guttural growls and piercing screams.

The production on "Shades Of Sorrow" allows each instrument to breathe while maintaining the crushing heaviness that defines modern death metal. Crypta's songwriting has matured considerably, incorporating more dynamic arrangements and atmospheric passages that provide breathing room between the album's more punishing moments. The rhythm section of Dametto and Bergamaschi creates a thunderous foundation, while Anubis's guitar work weaves intricate melodies through the chaos, proving that Crypta has firmly established themselves as one of South America's most promising extreme metal exports.
