DESTRÖYER 666 · Never Surrender | CD DIGIBOX

Box set including Digipack CD with bonus track, woven patch and pendant.

Background information about 'Never Surrender'

"Never Surrender" is exactly what the title promises: Deströyer 666 planting their boots in the dirt and refusing to blink. The Australians-turned-Europeans have always thrived on that greasy, beer-soaked intersection where first-wave black metal collides with the meanest kind of thrash, and here they sound utterly at home in the wreckage. The riffs come down like a swung chain, the rhythm section locks into a relentless gallop, and the vocals spit venom with the casual authority of people who have been doing this for decades and know precisely how hard they hit.

What makes the record such a joy is how unpretentious it all is. There is no posturing, no trend-chasing, no attempt to dress up the violence in art-school clothes. Instead you get hooks buried in the filth, twin-guitar harmonies that swagger out of nowhere, and choruses that stick long after the last chord has decayed. Tracks like the title cut and the brooding "Batavia's Graveyard" show a band that still knows how to build tension before the hammer falls, while the shorter, sharper bursts keep the whole thing moving at a punishing clip. It is the sound of a group playing to their own rules and enjoying every second of it.

This box set edition bundles the digipak CD, which carries an exclusive bonus track, together with a woven patch and a pendant — a tidy little arsenal for anyone who wants the full package rather than just the music.
