ARD - Untouched By Fire [ARTBOOK 2CD+DVD]
2CD+DVD book edition (hardcover, 18x18cm, 36 pages) with liner notes by Mark Deeks, lyrics, additional photos, plus video and audio recordings of the full “Organic Doom Vol.1” concert with pipe organ (700 copies available). Arð are of Northumbria. With their eagerly awaited sophomore album "Untouched by Fire", the inventors of monastic doom present another stunning milestone on their fast rising trajectory. Both musically and lyrically, mastermind Mark Deeks has climbed to new heights. Arð continue on their mission to explore the culture, heritage, and identity of the Northern English lands of Northumbria. The debut album "Take Up My Bones", followed the legend and century-long wanderings of the relics of Lindisfarne saint, Cuthbert (634–687). The tale narrated on the new full-length shines a light on a very different kind of saint. It revolves around the warrior king Oswald (604–642), who forged Northumbria with fire and sword by uniting the kingdoms of Bernicia and Deira. Oswald was widely regarded as the most powerful Anglo-Saxon king by his contemporaries. On "Untouched by Fire", Arð trace his rise to power from his exile as a youth in Dal Riada due to a family feud, via his victorious battles to conquer the lands that his father Æthelfrith had claimed until his founding of Northumbria. Musically, Arð stay broadly true to their original doom course. The signature 'monkish' choirs also remain prominently present as is to be expected from a musician who works as a choir arranger and conductor among other occupations such as bestselling author, teaching the piano, and playing keyboards in leading UK black metal act WINTERFYLLETH. Yet Deeks has also added new elements for example well-placed sprinkles of prog throughout the album. The compositions on "Untouched by Fire" reflect the gained experience and confidence of their mastermind in the sonic mirror of a more focused songwriting and stronger dynamics. This evolution is aided by the powerful and organic production courtesy of Markus Stock (EMPYRIUM, THE VISION BLEAK) as Arð recorded the album at Klangschmiede Studio E. When Deeks started Arð in the year 2019, the composer did not dare to hope for what was to happen the coming years even in his wildest dreams. His demos soon gained him a label and the first print run of the debut album "Take Up My Bones" (2022) sold out before the album even hit the stores. Several print runs followed and limited editions went quickly as well. The first shows of the band for example at Prophecy Fest in Balve, Germany spread an excellent reputation of Arð as a live act by word of mouth like a wildfire. The band was not only featured in the global metal and music press, but also got interviewed for German state television, renowned UK newspaper The Guardian and mentioned by BBC as well as other British media outlets for their special Organic Doom Show for which Deeks had rearranged tracks from "Take Up My Bones" to be performed by band and a real organ in Huddersfield. The full concert is included in the limited artbook edition on CD and DVD. With the sophomore album "Untouched by Fire", Arð have raised their own bar by several notches. Perfectly arranged monastic doom songs with high dynamics and pristine songwriting have found their match in a massive production. Close your eyes and let the Northumbrians take their listeners to an age when Germanic warrior kings carved out new kingdoms with sword and fire – and a new god by their side from whom they demanded victory in battle! A bloody feast for the ravens, a golden treasure for the ears! Tracklist: 1. Cursed to Nothing but Patience 2. Name Bestowed 3. Hefenfelth 4. He Saw Nine Winters 5. Beset by Weapons 6. Casket of Dust Artbook only: Live Bonus Disc (Organic Doom) 1. Burden Foretold 2. Take Up My Bones 3. Raise then the Incorrupt Body 4. Boughs of Trees 5. Banner of The Saints 6. Only Three Shall Know DVD: 1, Burden Foretold 2, Take Up My Bones 3, Raise Then The Incorrupt Body 4, Boughs Of Trees 5, Banner Of The Saints 6, Only Three Shall Know

THE VISION BLEAK - Weird Tales [GOLD LP BUNDLE]
Limited bundle incl. Gatefold LP (gold vinyl), CD hardcover book, logo patch and hand-signed/numbered certificate of authenticity, packed in a The Vision Bleak cloth bag (250 copies available). THE VISION BLEAK return in grand style: The German duo's seventh full-length "Weird Tales" constitutes a monumental tribute to the eponymous American pulp magazine and other tales of mystery and dark imagination. The album consists of a single track that is divided into internal chapters, which are each inspired by weird tales, poems, and other literature of horror and the macabre. On "Weird Tales", THE VISION BLEAK are referring to eminent writers of the legendary magazine such as H. P. Lovecraft and Clark Ashton Smith, but also allude to authors that were never featured in the magazine, for example Edgar Allen Poe and Lafcadio Hearn, whose "Fantastics and Other Fancies" was very influential for this album. THE VISION BLEAK are pulling every register of their enormous musical prowess. The chapters range stylistically from flamboyant gothic rock via dark doom to harsh black and death metal parts – and about everything in between. All the thrilling elements that the following of the duo has come to expect and love is present on this record: the dramatic and theatrical, the harsh and heavy, the melancholic and eerie, and also catchy and symphonic moments. All of this is woven into a dense sonic tapestry, which is held together by a recurring ebb and flow that is reminiscent of classical composition. THE VISION BLEAK were born out of the friendship between guitarist, bass-player and harsh vocalist Markus Stock aka Ulf Theodor Schwadorf and drummer and singer Tobias Schönemann alias Allen B. Konstanz. After first experimenting with a more gothic rock formula, THE VISION BLEAK shaped up when the duo began to involve their mutual love for the horror genre. Already their debut album, "The Deathship Has a New Captain" (2004) became an instant success in both gothic and metal circles and is by now regarded as a classic. As the debut album's theme was based on classical horror movies, the Germans aptly dubbed their style: horror metal. With the following albums, THE VISION BLEAK cemented their reputation as purveyors of classy and quality music. Each full-length revolves around themes from the horror genre that can easily be deduced from their respective titles. "Carpathia" (2005) was followed by "The Wolves Go Hunt Their Prey (2007) and "Set Sail to Mystery (2010), "Witching Hour" (2013), and "The Unknown" (2016). THE VISION BLEAK, the masters of horror metal, are finally ready to gift the world their most ambitious song so far: "Weird Tales" is a beautiful and heartfelt homage to a poetic golden age of horror and mystery literature. Listen with care, but always be wary of the eldritch and forbidding sounds that lurk within this song! Tracklist: 1. Weird Tales - Chapter I: Introduction - Chapter II: In Rue d'Auseil - Chapter III: In Gardens Red, Satanical - Chapter IV: Once I was a Flower - Chapter V: The Premature Burial - Chapter VI: Mother of Toads - Chapter VII: The Graveyard by Nyght in a Thunderstorm - Chapter VIII: The Undying One - Chapter IX: Evil Dreams Run Deep - Chapter X: The Witch with Eyes of Amber - Chapter XI: Canticle - Chapter XII: To Drink from Lethe
