Background information about 'Unter dem Banner der Nordwinde'
Drautran unleashes a tempest of Nordic fury with "Unter dem Banner der Nordwinde", a blackened odyssey that cuts through the frozen landscapes of ancient Germanic lore like a battle axe through winter air. This isn't just another black metal album – it's a ritualistic journey into the heart of pagan mysticism, where atmospheric passages collide with relentless blast beats and tremolo-picked melodies that echo through fjords and forgotten battlefields. The band crafts an immersive soundscape that balances raw aggression with haunting melodic interludes, creating moments of breathtaking beauty amid the chaos.
From the mystical opening of "Prolog: Die Seidr Kunst" to the epic closer "Epilog: Die Tore Der Nacht", every track serves as a chapter in an ancient saga. The centerpiece "Unter Dem Banner Der Nordwinde" storms forward with thunderous percussion and soaring guitar work that captures the essence of Nordic warfare, while "Sturmflut" delivers seven minutes of crushing atmospheric black metal that feels like standing in the eye of a winter storm. Drautran proves that German black metal can rival the Norwegian masters when it comes to creating authentic pagan atmospheres.
