Background information about 'The Somberlain'

"The Somberlain," the debut album from Swedish black metal pioneers Dissection, stands as a fundamental pillar in the genre's evolution. Released initially in 1993, this record melds the raw ferocity of black metal with haunting melodic elements that would come to define the band's signature sound. From the epic opener "Black Horizons" to the chilling "Heaven's Damnation," each track is crafted with masterful precision, weaving a tapestry of despair and transcendence.

Fast forward to its re-release under Black Lodge Records, fans old and new can experience this seminal album with enhanced production quality that preserves the original's chilling atmosphere while amplifying its sonic depth. The remastered edition brings to life Jon Nödtveidt's haunting compositions with renewed clarity, allowing listeners to appreciate the intricate interplay between guitars and the visceral intensity of each track.
