Background information about 'Estrangement'
Ukrainian atmospheric black metal legends Drudkh return with "Estrangement", a haunting four-track journey that showcases the band's mastery of melancholic soundscapes and nature-inspired compositions. The album opens with "Solitary Endless Path", a sprawling epic that sets the tone with its mesmerizing guitar work and hypnotic rhythms, while "Skies At Our Feet" continues the atmospheric assault with layers of tremolo-picked melodies that seem to echo across vast Ukrainian steppes. The band's ability to create cinematic black metal without losing their raw edge remains as potent as ever.
The second half delivers equally compelling material with "Where Horizons End" and "Only The Wind Remembers My Name", both tracks weaving together the band's signature blend of post-rock influences and traditional black metal ferocity. Drudkh's commitment to singing in their native Ukrainian language adds an authentic cultural depth that sets them apart from their contemporaries, creating music that feels both deeply personal and universally resonant. The production strikes the perfect balance between clarity and rawness, allowing every nuanced guitar line and thunderous drum passage to breathe naturally.
