Background information about 'Dragons of the North (2021)'
Einherjer have always been the kind of band that carries the spirit of the North in their veins, and "Dragons of the North" proves once again why they remain one of the most respected forces in Viking metal. This 2021 record is a thunderous, proud and melodic journey that pulls you straight into the fjords and battlefields of old Scandinavia. The riffs are massive, the drums hammer like war drums, and the clean vocals mixed with harsh shouts give the whole thing an epic, almost cinematic feel. It is raw where it needs to be, but there is a surprising amount of melody and grandeur woven into every track, making it accessible without ever losing its bite.
The songwriting here is sharp and confident, with tracks that feel like ancient sagas set to music. Einherjer manage to balance aggression with atmosphere perfectly, never overstaying their welcome on any song and always keeping the momentum flowing. The production is clear and powerful, letting every guitar line and every chant land with full impact. Whether you are a long-time follower of the genre or just discovering the world of Norse-inspired metal, "Dragons of the North" is a record that demands to be played loud. It is honest, fierce and full of heart - exactly what you want from a band that has been flying the Viking flag for decades.
