Background information about 'Hisingen Blues'

There are records that simply knock you flat the first time you hear them, and "Hisingen Blues" is exactly that kind of record. Graveyard came out of Gothenburg swinging, and this second album is the moment everything clicked into place. The title track alone is a masterclass in slow-burning, blues-drenched heaviness, the kind of riff that feels like it was pulled straight out of the earth and left to smolder. Joakim Nilsson's voice cracks and soars with a raw, soulful desperation that most bands spend entire careers chasing.

What makes this album so special is how effortlessly it moves between moods. "Ain't Fit To Live Here" kicks things off with a swaggering, almost swaggering groove that immediately sets the tone, while "Uncomfortably Numb" stretches out into a sprawling, psychedelic haze that builds and builds until it feels like the whole thing might collapse under its own weight. The band wears their influences proudly, the ghost of late-sixties and early-seventies hard rock and proto-metal looms large, but they never sound like a tribute act. There's a genuine, lived-in quality to these songs, a warmth and grit that feels completely their own.

The production deserves a special mention too. It's raw but never sloppy, capturing the band in a way that feels alive and immediate, like you're standing in the room while they play. "The Siren" closes things out with a haunting, almost mournful beauty that lingers long after the final note fades. This is blues rock for people who want their music to actually mean something.
