Background information about 'Back For The Attack'

The year is 1987, and hair metal is at its absolute peak — but Dokken were never just another band of pretty boys with big riffs. With Back For The Attack, they dropped what might just be their most ferocious, most complete statement. This is the sound of a band firing on all cylinders, balancing razor-sharp melodic instincts with the kind of guitar pyrotechnics that would make your average shredder weep into their spandex.

George Lynch is an absolute monster on this record — his playing on the instrumental "Mr. Scary" alone should be taught in schools. But what really makes this album soar is how the band weaves those face-melting solos into songs with genuine heart. Don Dokken's vocals glide effortlessly from tender vulnerability on "Heaven Sent" to full-throttle wail on "Kiss of Death", while Jeff Pilson and Mick Brown lay down a rhythm foundation that's tighter than a drum. The singles speak for themselves: "Dream Warriors" — yes, the one from A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 — is pure anthemic glory, and "Burning Like a Flame" is the kind of track that makes you want to roll down the windows and hit the highway. But dig deeper and you'll find gems like "Night by Night" and "Lost Behind the Wall", tracks that showcase a darker, more sophisticated edge. This is melodic hard rock at its absolute finest — polished enough for radio but packing enough bite to remind you these guys could outplay just about anyone on the Sunset Strip.
