Background information about 'Back For The Attack'
Dokken's third studio album "Back For The Attack" stands as a defining moment in late 80s hard rock, showcasing the band at their absolute creative peak. Released in 1987, this powerhouse collection perfectly captures the essence of hair metal's golden era with its razor-sharp guitar work courtesy of George Lynch and Don Dokken's soaring vocals. The album spawned several MTV favorites including "Dream Warriors" (featured on the Nightmare on Elm Street 3 soundtrack), "Burning Like a Flame", and "Heaven Sent", each track demonstrating the band's knack for crafting anthemic choruses that stick with you long after the needle lifts.
What makes this record truly special is how it balances accessibility with genuine musical prowess - Lynch's guitar wizardry never overshadows the songcraft, while the rhythm section of Jeff Pilson and Mick Brown provides the perfect foundation for these arena-ready anthems. The production captures that classic 80s sheen without sacrificing the raw energy that made Dokken such a formidable live act. From the opening thunder of "Kiss of Death" to the closing epic "Lightnin' Strikes Again", every moment feels essential and purposeful.
