Some records just hit you out of nowhere, and "Corridors" by Midryasi is exactly that kind of revelation. Hailing from Italy, this outfit brings a swirling, psychedelic take on hard rock that feels like it was unearthed from some long-lost 1971 tape vault rather than recorded in the modern era. The riffs are thick, fuzzed-out and gloriously heavy, but there is a dreamy, almost hypnotic quality running through the whole thing that keeps you coming back for more. From the moment the needle drops on "Corridors", you are pulled into a world of hazy organs, warm analog tones and vocals that drift somewhere between a croon and a wail.

The album flows like a proper journey rather than a collection of songs. "Woman Of Doom" stomps with a slow-burning menace, while "Steal My Breath" rides a groove so infectious it feels almost effortless. The real centerpiece, though, is the closing "Another Hell Within [Space Suite Version]" — a sprawling, atmospheric piece that stretches out into pure cosmic territory. Throughout it all, Midryasi manage that rare trick of sounding both crushingly heavy and beautifully melodic at the same time. There is a genuine warmth and humanity to this record, the kind of thing you can only get when a band truly means it.
