TONY IOMMI · From the Dark | DELUXE MEDIABOOK CD

Deluxe media book edition.

Background information about 'From the Dark'

When the name Tony Iommi appears on a record, you stop what you're doing and you listen. From the Dark (Deluxe Edition) is not just another solo outing from the riff god himself — this is a thunderous statement, a colossal slab of heavy metal that proves the master still has more fire in his fingertips than most guitarists could summon in ten lifetimes.

From the opening crush of Over the Violent Sun, Iommi's signature tone hits you right in the chest — that thick, doomy, unmistakable growl that basically invented an entire genre. But this isn't just a nostalgia trip. With powerhouse vocalist Jorn Lande commanding the microphone on the bulk of these tracks, the album takes on a majestic, almost epic quality. Jorn's voice is a force of nature, soaring over Iommi's monolithic riffs on Black Times and Beyond the Dead with the kind of authority that would make Dio himself nod in approval. Mike Exeter's production is crisp and colossal, giving every track the space to breathe while keeping the weight firmly on the low end. Stormwatcher channels that classic doom majesty, while Death Wake lumbers with a groove so infectious you'll be banging your head involuntarily. And then there's Legacy, a seven-minute epic that closes the main album with a sense of grandeur that feels almost cinematic.

The deluxe edition brings even more treasures to the table. Scent of Dark, featuring Ash Sheehan and Julianne Bourne, takes a slightly different turn — moodier, more atmospheric, but still unmistakably Iommi. And the extended version of Deified is pure riff-worship, stretching out into nearly five minutes of glorious, fuzz-drenched heaviness. This is the sound of a legend who has absolutely nothing left to prove, yet still plays like the fate of metal depends on it.
