Background information about 'Floppy Disk Overdrive'
There is something deeply satisfying about Master Boot Record turning raw machine code into actual, chest-rattling heavy metal. "Floppy Disk Overdrive" is the project's love letter to the beige-box era, where every track is named after a DOS command and every riff feels like a corrupted file screaming for mercy. The synth leads are razor sharp, the guitars are chunky and relentless, and the whole thing rides a groove that sits somewhere between chiptune nostalgia and full-on thrash. It is gloriously nerdy and completely serious at the same time, which is exactly the trick this project pulls off so well.
What makes the record work is the pacing. Short, punchy bursts like the opener build tension before the longer pieces open up into proper headbanging territory, with the drum programming hammering away like a hard drive that refuses to die. There are moments of genuine melody buried under all that distortion, little hooks that stick with you long after the disc stops spinning. It never feels like a gimmick, because the songwriting is tight and the production has real weight to it. Crank it up and let your inner sysadmin headbang.
