Background information about 'Ghosts Of Europa'
The enigmatic Norwegian mastermind Mortiis returns with "Ghosts of Europa", a sonic manifesto that feels like the culmination of decades spent wandering through electronic wastelands and industrial shadows. This isn't just another album – it's a creative liberation, a testament to artistic maturity that refuses to be shackled by genre conventions. What strikes you immediately is how Mortiis has crafted something that feels both familiar and utterly alien, weaving together electronic rock with industrial undertones that create these massive, cinematic soundscapes.
The production work by Sean Beavan (who's worked magic with Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode, and System Of A Down) gives every track this crushing, expansive quality that makes you feel like you're witnessing the soundtrack to some dystopian future. Tracks like "Violent Silence" and "Tribes Of Dystopia" showcase Mortiis' ability to blend haunting melodies with crushing industrial beats, while "Return To The Old Fields" demonstrates his knack for creating these deeply emotional, almost nostalgic moments within the chaos. It's dark, it's visionary, and it constantly surprises you just when you think you've got it figured out.
