Background information about 'Fighting For The Cross'
Blissful Stream delivers a crushing statement with "Fighting For The Cross", an album that showcases the project's mastery of atmospheric doom metal. Martin Sällström has crafted something truly special here - six tracks of heavy, meditative metal that feels both ancient and urgently contemporary. The opening title track sets the tone perfectly, with its monolithic riffs and haunting melodies that seem to echo from some forgotten cathedral. "Chimaera" and "Baptised By Fire" continue this journey into darkness, each song building upon the last to create an immersive sonic experience that's both punishing and beautiful.
The album's second half maintains this momentum brilliantly, with "The Longest Road" serving as an epic centerpiece that showcases Sällström's ability to balance crushing heaviness with genuine emotional depth. "Our Final Hour" and "The Devil's Will" close out the record with the kind of apocalyptic grandeur that makes doom metal so compelling when it's done right. The production is wonderfully organic, capturing every nuance of the guitar work while maintaining the raw power that makes this music so effective. This is doom metal that understands the genre's roots while pushing it into new territory.
