Background information about 'Forbidden'

The Bay Area has given us some of the most seismic shifts in metal history — from the early days of Metallica to the devastating groove of Machine Head. But few bands embody the raw, hungry spirit of that scene quite like Forbidden, and with this self-titled opus they're not just knocking on the door — they're kicking it clean off its hinges.

Guitarist Craig Locicero and bassist Matt Camacho have assembled a revitalized lineup and delivered an hour-plus masterwork that crackles with thrash fury, emotional depth, and proggy ambition. From the moment Single Point Failure erupts, you know this isn't some nostalgia trip — it's a band reborn with fire in their veins. The riffs slice, the rhythms pummel, and there's a sense of purpose here that transcends the steel-forged foundations of their 1988 classic Forbidden Evil or the quantum leap that was 1990's Twisted Into Form. Tracks like Burning the Lungs of Earth and Divided by Zero hit with surgical precision, while the nine-minute closer Flower of Life unfolds with philosophical nuance and breathtaking scope. Produced by Zach Ohren — the man behind Machine Head's sonic onslaught — the album sounds colossal, every note drenched in clarity and weight. This isn't merely a comeback; it's a cleansing, a full-throttle rebirth for one of thrash metal's most essential institutions.
